In a deal brokered by the city’s newly commissioned Citizens Environmental Task Force, Exxon/Mobil, owners of the Exxon/Mobil Refinery in the City of Torrance agreed today to fund a bond that will make low cost financing of solar energy systems for home and apartment owners. He wasn’t a finance guy, thinking “I’m going to make money.” It’s expensive and my clients don’t finance. Because for one, financing isn’t available anymore and two, early adopters are a different crowd. Well more so now than it was prior to 2006 and that’s just because electric cars are becoming more readily available.

Specifics on the finances are to be discussed by the German cabinet in the next legislature period in the fall. Speaking on the ARD news program Tagesschau, German environment minister Sigmar Gabriel said that the technology for efficient and safe electric cars would not be in place until 2011 at the earliest.
