The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is designating 31 areas across the country as not meeting the agency’s daily standards for fine particle air pollution (PM 2.5), or particulate matter. Using the 2006 to 2008 data, 91 US counties that were identified as nonattainment in December 2008 are now meeting the standards.
