Prototype low-viscosity ionic liquid-additized engine oil demonstrated a 2% improved fuel economy compared to Mobil 1 5W-30 engine oil (3.93% over the 20W-30 baseline oil) in standard fuel efficiency engine dynamometer tests. The prototype oil also successfully passed a 100-hour high-temperature, high-load engine dynamometer test.

Transonic Combustion is on course to directly supply global automotive manufacturers with its high efficiency fuel injection systems. For the foreseeable future, the internal combustion engine will remain the dominant propulsion system for automobiles and there is still a lot of room to improve its efficiency. from 1998 to 2001.

The transmission is significantly more efficient than traditional torque-converter automatics, resulting in fuel economy levels and CO 2 emissions which are very close to those achieved with a manual gearbox. Electronically controlled, twin internal clutches shift gears quickly and smoothly, providing a seamless flow of torque to the wheels.

Taking legal action over the ZEV mandates would be a repeat of the late 1990s: automakers filed a federal lawsuit that led California to water down its ZEV requirements beginning in 2001, thus effectively ending most automakers electric vehicle (EV) programs for more than a decade.
