Emissions of new cars in the UK fell 3.5% Average CO 2 emissions from new cars have fallen by more than 20% since 2000. The warning came as a new report published by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) confirmed that the fleet average CO 2 of newly registered cars rose for the first time in 2017, despite vehicles becoming ever more efficient.
