The next generation Chevrolet Volt will debut at the 2015 North American International Auto Show in Detroit in January, Global Chevrolet Chief Marketing Officer Tim Mahoney said today. Volt sales were up 13% in July to 2,020 units; more than 65,000 have been sold since it was introduced in 2010.

Johnson Controls is premiering its new 48-volt Micro Hybrid battery demonstration module ( earlier post ) in Europe at the Hannover Messe. A 48-volt Li-ion battery would be used in vehicles in conjunction with a 12-volt lead-acid starter battery. By using the 48-volt battery vehicles can save between 15 and 20 percent in fuel.

The average daily inventory turn for the Chevrolet Volt is the lowest in the GM fleet.
