Solar’s competition is really fossil fuel, or in other words, the established way electricity is being generated. With subsidies long in place for nuclear, coal and gas in the US along with the cheap cost of production for coal and natural gas, solar is essentially competing with that $0.10/kWh We need a better paradigm.

Most of the hydrogen on Earth exists in molecular forms such as water and organic compounds. As a gas hydrogen or H2. We can’t just dig Hydrogen up from the ground we must create hydrogen from either Water or from organic compounds, and this requires a lot of energy. This is classified as carbon free hydrogen.

BASF officially opened its BASF Fuel Cell production facility in Somerset, New Jersey. Conventional low temperature fuel cell systems, which operate at a maximum of 80 °C (175 °F) need a large number of ancillary units, and a complex control and hydration system as well as high-purity hydrogen gas.
