BYD has officially launched its Qin plug-in hybrid in China; the performance-based hybrid car is intended to target key world markets. The Qin can be driven in pure electric mode for up to 70 km (44 miles). For long distance journeys the car uses its 1.5TID gasoline engine. BYD Qin Chinese market specs. BYD 476ZQA (1.5).

At the Shanghai Auto Show, BYD unveiled a turbo-charged, fuel stratified, direct-injection all-aluminum-alloy gasoline engine designed and manufactured entirely in China. BYD designed this 1.5-liter liter engine and has paired it with a 6-speed Tiptronic dual clutch transmission, calling the pair the BYD “Ti+DCT”.

Daimler has extended its portfolio of new energy vehicles (NEV) with the introduction of the DENZA 400, the company’s “Made in China, for China” electric vehicle from joint venture Shenzhen BYD Daimler New Technology Co., The vehicles are manufactured at BDNT’s independent production line at the BYD base in Shenzhen.

Exceeding its initial program targets, the plug-in 2017 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid ( earlier post ) has earned an electric-mode fuel economy rating of 84 miles-per-gallon-equivalent (MPGe) from the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). A large share of credit goes to the vehicle’s eFlite dual-motor electrically variable transmission (EVT).
