One of those may be the e6 all-electric crossover built by Chinese manufacturer BYD. Now that the 2011 Nissan Leaf and 2011 Chevy Volt have reached showrooms--a handful of them, anyhow--a new crop of electric vehicles will launch into the market for 2011.

BYD Auto reportedly has sold less than 100 of its F3DM (dual-mode) plug-in hybrid electric vehicles ( earlier post ) through August. Earlier this year, the Chinese automaker unveiled the e6, the world’s first 5-seater EV that can run 400 kilometers on a full charge, at the Detroit Motor Show.

Got2BeGreen reports BYD, a large Chinese firm that is jumping into cars, will be showing a plug-in hybrid, the F6DM, at the Detroit Auto Show. Tags: plug-in hybrid byd. According to this report, it will begin selling next year in China for about $20,000. The PHEV and EV market is wide open.

Chinese automaker BYD has announced that it will reveal its plans for US-ready electric drive vehicles and clean energy products at the upcoming 2011 North American International Auto Show in Detroit.

Though 12 miles is well short of the 40 plus miles of the upcoming Chevy Volt, the costs associated with the hybrid system should also fall well short of the Volts costly power train. The plug-in Prius is a separate model from the all new 2010 Prius Hybrid. The plug-in Prius is expected to launch sometime in 2010.
