The majority of EV purchasers eligible for a federal tax credit have gotten the credit as a point-of-sale rebate since that option was added at the beginning of the year, The Treasury Department said in a press release. Point-of-sale rebates aren’t limited to franchised dealerships, either.

Fewer Tesla EVs now qualify for the $7,500 federal EV tax credit, but for those that do, Tesla is now applying the credit at the time of purchase. The automaker’s website now says that eligible buyers will have the full $7,500 credit applied when they purchase their vehicles. 1 , which could make a big difference in EV sales.

The Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers (Auto Alliance) is strongly supporting the passage of Maryland’s SB 1234 , a bill that would require the State of Maryland to purchase zero emission vehicles (ZEVs) for state fleets. The bill also includes a reporting requirement for State agencies that purchase vehicles.

Ahead of its debut, Polestar is already offering a massive $7,500 purchase incentive on the new electric SUV. Polestar partnered with Google to power the infotainment with Android Auto OS. However, it’s unclear whether the Polestar 3 will gain up to $15,000 in purchase incentives with the EV tax credit.
