DNV GL paper suggests near-term success for LNG in shipping; alternative fuel mix to diversify over time

The global merchant fleet currently consumes around 330 million tonnes of fuel annually, 80-85 per cent of which is residual fuel with high sulfur content.

European project working to establish basis for standardization of methanol fuels in Europe

In power-to-liquid processes, greenhouse gas-reduced methanol can be produced by the synthesis of CO 2 and hydrogen. The CO 2 required can, for example, come from power plant processes or from the air, and the hydrogen can be obtained from the electrolysis of water with regenerative electricity: solar power plants.

The City of Santa Monica, California has awarded Clean Energy a multi-year liquefied natural gas (LNG) contract to fuel its Big Blue Bus (BBB) fleet of vehicles. ARB has defined this certified Near Zero NO x emission level as equivalent to a 100% battery truck using electricity from a modern combined cycle natural gas power plant.
