The 2013 Ford Fusion Hybrid is one of the more eagerly awaited green cars coming this year. With fuel economy projected at up to 48 mpg city, it improves considerably on the well-regarded current Ford Fusion Hybrid, which is rated by the EPA at 41 mpg city, 36 mpg highway, for a combined overall rating of 39 mpg.

The new Ford C-MAX Energi plug-in hybrid ( earlier post ), which goes on sale in the US this year, is now EPA- certified at 100 miles-per-gallon equivalent (MPGe) combined city and highway, and 108 MPGe in the city. Ford projects that its Fusion Energi plug-in hybrid, due out in early 2013, will deliver 100+ MPGe combined.

Ford has tripled to more than 200 the number of US dealers certified to sell its lineup of plug-in electrified vehicles, including the new C-MAX Energi plug-in hybrid that is on sale now and delivers the equivalent of 105 mpg combined in electric mode. After re-labeling the 2013 C-MAX Hybrid with lower fuel economy, Ford is upgrading the 2014 C-MAX to increase fuel economy. 2014 mpg is not yet announced. Ford has opted voluntarily to relabel the 2013 C-MAX Hybrid with revised fuel economy labels following EPA testing of the 2013 C-Max Hybrid.
