Volvo Cars announced at Auto Shanghai that it will build its first fully electric car in China. The all-new model will be based on Volvo’s Compact Modular Architecture (CMA) for smaller cars, and will be available for sale in 2019 and exported globally from China, Volvo said. In 2010, Volvo Cars was acquired by Geely Holding.

The Tesla Roadster Trio found in shipping containers at a dock in China earlier this week has already started accumulating massive bids from buyers who are hoping to get their hands on at least one of the vehicles. In 2010, a buyer in China purchased three Tesla Roadsters. These have been sitting in sealed sea containers since.

GKN Driveline continues its rapid growth in China with plans for a 12 th manufacturing facility; expansion of an existing research center; and the introduction of new low-cost and electric-hybrid technologies for the China market. Changchun is the second new plant GKN has constructed in the last 18 months in China.

Ford Motor Company officially launched the new Ford Fiesta into the China market on the southern resort island of Hainan. China is the world’s first market to introduce the four-door Fiesta sedan.
