But it’ll be clean and fun, so this brand pivot makes a lot of sense. The Toyota Prius, a battery-gasoline hybrid, is a very famous and recognizable example of this approach.

While awareness is high and knowledge has increased since a Maritz Research 2006 poll, few consumers today purport to be very familiar with either electric-only, flex fuel or gasoline-hybrid vehicles. 13% said they were very familiar with clean diesel and 6% with hydrogen. Gasoline-electric hybrid vehicles rose from 15 to 22%.

After facing some questionable criticism about its manufacturing processes and how green the Toyota Prius really is, the Japanese manufacturer has hit back with a Press release highlighting its environmentally focused manufacturing. It suggests that the Prius is a standard bearer for clean operations and the use of renewable energy sources.
