After facing some questionable criticism about its manufacturing processes and how green the Toyota Prius really is, the Japanese manufacturer has hit back with a Press release highlighting its environmentally focused manufacturing. It suggests that the Prius is a standard bearer for clean operations and the use of renewable energy sources.

EAA Board of Director member Jerry Asher joined the caravan and provided support with the “Spirit of DC” Plug-in Toyota Prius hybrid. Six other electric cars joined the Tesla Roadster and “Spirit of DC” Plug-in Toyota Prius as part of the exhibition.

Plus more people are installing rooftop solar photovoltaic systems, and clean wind power is vastly expanding nationally (see study by eminent environmentalist Lester Brown cited at CalCars Kudos ). In some areas where wind and hydropower is wasted at night, the rate can be as low as 2-3 cents per kWh. Thats 20-25 cents a gallon.

They were busy promoting their hybrid cars and their favorite distraction tactic - “Hydrogen Cars” While Toyota did very well with the Prius hybrid car, hedging their bets on hybrid cars in the 2020s seems to me that they seem to still live in the 90s. What a waste. I feel these companies just have a sunk cost bias.
