Honda Malaysia Sdn. HMSB), a Honda automobile production and sales joint venture in Malaysia, has begun construction of a second automobile production line at the existing auto plant in Malacca, Malaysia. At the end of this year, HMSB will begin local production of hybrid vehicles using the existing production line.

Although it is the world’s dominant producer of rare earths, China still imports the minerals from abroad—primarily from Myanmar, Malaysia and Vietnam. China wants electric vehicles, hybrids and other eco-friendly vehicles to account for all new cars sold in the country by 2035, and is also looking to boost production of robots.

Sumitomo Corporation together with Sumitomo Corporation of Americas (collectively, SC Group) announced a strategic collaboration agreement with US Hybrid to grow US Hybrid’s fuel cell production business through the expansion of fuel cell stack production capacity. US Hybrid introduced the “freeze-capable” 80 kW unit in May.
