The list of participants at this year’s Tokyo Motor Show, which kicks off to the Press tomorrow (October 21), is perhaps indicative of Japan’s waning fortunes. When the Honda CR-Z (Compact, Renaissance, Zero) Concept (see article ) made its debut at the Tokyo Motor Show in 2007 it was described as the “world’s first hybrid sports car”.

Both Ford and Nissan made significant gains in their share of reported hybrid sales with Nissan reporting the share of hybrid sales jumping from 1.7 General Motors: GM sold a total of 1,708 hybrids during the month – an increase of 4.8 Compared to July 2009 results, hybrid sales increased by 9.2 per cent in August this year.
