Just a few months into a joint innovation project ( earlier post ), engineers from Bosch Engineering and Ligier Automotive have built a high-performance vehicle with a hydrogen engine. The Ligier JS2 RH2 was officially presented to the public for the first time as part of the 100 th anniversary of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

At the recent ACT Expo in Long Beach, California, Cummins debuted its 15-liter hydrogen engine. This engine is built on Cummins’ new fuel-agnostic platform, where below the head gasket each fuel type’s engine has largely similar components, and above the head gasket, each has different components for different fuel types.

Rolls-Royce has conducted successful tests of a 12-cylinder gas variant of the mtu Series 4000 L64 engine running on 100% hydrogen fuel. The tests, carried out by the Power Systems business unit, showed very good characteristics in terms of efficiency, performance, emissions and combustion. We are very pleased with the rapid progress.

Rolls-Royce has successfully entered the final phase of testing it’s ALECSys (Advanced Low Emissions Combustion System) demonstrator engine, this time at altitude. The test program has included flights up to 40,000 feet as well as a number of engine relights at different conditions, all of which have been successful.

The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is proposing new, stronger standards to promote clean air and reduce pollution from heavy-duty vehicles and engines starting in model year (MY) 2027. This proposed rulemaking builds on and improves the existing emission control program for on-highway heavy-duty engines and vehicles.
