The US Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Energy today released the 2010 Fuel Economy Guide, which gives consumers information about estimated fuel costs and mileage standards for model year 2010 vehicles. For MY 2010, the Prius is the top fuel economy leader , with EPA ratings of 51/48 mpg city/highway.

The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has rated Ford’s 2014 1.0L The fuel economy rating outperforms some competitors’ diesels and hybrids on the highway driving cycle. As an example, the 2014 Honda Insight achieves 44 mpg highway, while the 2014 Volkswagen Golf diesel with a manual transmission delivers 42 mpg highway.

The all-new 2010 Honda Insight goes on-sale 24 March with a manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) of $19,800 for the entry-level Insight LX, American Honda Motor Co., liter i-VTEC gasoline engine and a 10-kW electric motor that together contribute to an EPA-estimated city/highway fuel economy rating of 40/43 miles per gallon.

The researchers used four fuels: a baseline US EPA Tier 3 E10 fuel; one E10 fuel with higher aromatics content than the baseline E10; an E30 fuel that was splash-blended with the Tier 3 E10; and an E78 fuel. A fuel economy penalty was also observed for lower energy content E30 and E78 blends compared to both E10 fuels. Yang et al.

Ford’s 2017 Fusion Energi—incorporating enhancements announced earlier this year at the Detroit Auto Show ( earlier post )—can travel 610 miles (982 km) on a full tank of gas and battery charge according to EPA estimates to be posted to fueleconomy.gov—the highest combined range of any plug-in hybrid sold in the US.
