Hopefully the funding was from the same place as well… 2 Bill C said on March 13th, 2009 at 1:21 pm I think a few billion should be taken out of the Detroit bailout and give some capital to all of the electric car companies. The tango (commuter cars) says they only need 50 million to become profitable. This is a drop in the bucket.

Guess what, this company, picked up one of the old trdemarks and it will be manufactured under the name "Detroit Electric". Sure beats Detroit, same old, same old gas buggy, and anothe Purple PLUM, whoops PUMA, two wheel, or is 4wheel, kiddy car. The PUMA is just another example of the fact that Detroit, particularly GM, is clueless.

The true impact of electric vehicles should consider the make-up of the power grids where these cars will be used. As for building cars no one wants – when the March sales numbers came out the Detroit 3 outsold the Transplant 5 with Toyota behind General Motors and only slightly ahead of Ford by 8,000 vehicles. Does that bother you?

Wind, hydro, DC transmission lines, and smart grid electronics are also Portland strengths. Many EV groups online for more info or google EV clubs or EV racing and follow the website’s links. Range is another issue if electric cars are expected to be adopted by the average American and not just used as city cars.
