Conversions are mostly for the Prius, with a few for the Ford Escape/Mercury Mariner hybrid SUVs. At that point, we expect the aftermarket companies prices to have come down sufficiently so that their conversions will be attractive to owners of hundreds of thousands of hybrids already on the road. So far, most start as hybrids.

The vehicle will be used in a demonstration project that will study the operating characteristics of an all-electric fleet in practical, real-world working conditions.

As part of the demonstration project with REV, the City will use the proprietary REV 300 ACX PACKs to transform a Ford Escape to a 100% electrified vehicle for fleet use.

All we really need in addition to fleets of new paradigm vehicles are additional solar and wind generation sources. In fact, (in our humble opinion) all new vehicles should be PHEVs, and each PHEV or fleet of PHEVs needs to be sold with a comparable number of solar or wind generators. These PHEV Volts have a 35 mile (56 km) AER.
