750,000 to research value-based design options for the standardization of plug-in electric vehicle (PEV) batteries. This project includes $150,000 in match funding from San Diego Gas & Electric. The conversion process will also produce biochar, a soil amendment that can be used for agricultural purposes.

These projects put more than 9,000 alternative fuel and energy-efficient light-, medium- and heavy-duty vehicles on the road, and establish 542 refueling locations across the country. The vehicles and infrastructure being funded include the use of natural and renewable gas, propane, ethanol, biodiesel, electricity, and hybrid technologies.

This is a bit of a dilemma because I only have a one-car garage and my current electric vehicle (the Porsche 914) is sitting in it, charging up. I don't live in the best neighborhood) I can plug in at night with a cord dangling outside, but that could invite mischievous behavior. Try to borrow garage space from a friend.
