Toyota titillates with its plug-in Prius test program (600 vehicles worldwide over the next few years) as well as an all-electric 50-mile range "small, urban commuter BEV" and a plug-in hybrid concept small car. At the moment the concept car has four wheel motors, always a red flag to me. No word on when.

Like the Volt, they are shooting for a 300 mile range with the first 40 miles all electric. Looks like most of the battery EV makers are shooting for a 100-150 mile range, with Tesla shooting for over 200. The PHEV people are aiming at the 40 mile all electric range. American car giant Ford has finally come clean over its electric car plans with news of their developmental BEV (Battery Electric Vehicle) car program announced at the Frankfurt Motor Show. The BEV will have a top speed of 85mph and a range of up to 75 miles. Tags: Ford BEV Electric cars Ford Focus.

With support from Scottish and Southern Energy, a fleet of prototype Ford Focus BEVs will be used by both the energy company and evaluation drivers based in Hillingdon, Middlesex. The vehicles will have a range of 80 to 100 miles on a full recharge and will be capable of recharging from domestic or commercial power supply.

Audi A6 e-Tron – concept car points to sleek large luxury sedan powered only by electricity. Sleeker Sportback model will also be part of the e-Tron S range. Due in Australia early in 2022.
