The largest public multi-standard electric vehicle charging facility in California officially opened in Santa Clara. The Santa Clara Electric Vehicle Charging Center, located at the city’s Tasman Parking Garage, features 48 Level 2 chargers and one DC Fast Charger.

Greater Washington DC will be an initial launch market for the Chevrolet Volt electric vehicle with extended range. Chevrolet also announced a development and demonstration program with DC-area utilities Pepco and Dominion to introduce customers to electric vehicles and establish vehicle charging programs.

GS Battery (USA) Inc., , the US subsidiary of Japan-based battery maker GS Yuasa, announced the deployment of its Hybrid Energy System (HES) for renewable energy storage and EV charging. Additional options include an AC and a DC load centers, a PV charge controller, auxiliary heating and air conditioning, a hydrogen sensor and fan cooling.

Idaho National Laboratory has released the voluminous findings from its analysis of five large-scale PEV and charging infrastructure projects funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. The key finding of INL’s assessment of the results was that public charging infrastructure is not needed everywhere to enable PEV adoption.
