Three decades after we successfully eliminated 94% of the over 1 billion scrap tires stockpiled around the country, this report reveals that efforts to find and develop new uses for scrap tires have stalled. We must take immediate steps to grow new and existing markets to recycle 100% of scrap tires.

After full review, NASA and SpinLaunch will publish all non-proprietary launch environment information from the test flight. Ultimately, SpinLaunch’s Orbital Accelerator will accelerate a launch vehicle containing a satellite up to 5,000 miles per hour using a rotating carbon-fiber-arm within a 300-ft diameter steel vacuum chamber.

Sapphire Energy produces algae crude oil—“Green Crude”—which is renewable, low carbon and can be refined using typical refinery configurations into naphtha, diesel and kerosene (jet fuel). Today, the company has pioneered much of the science along the algae-to-energy value chain from biology, cultivation, harvest and extraction.

A main component to help the algae grow will be carbon dioxide emissions from fossil fuel combustion. Carbon2Algae eventually plans to operate algae photobioreactors that will capture carbon dioxide from facilities such as the Alberta oil sands or coal-fired power plants, and use these emissions to allow local strains of algae to thrive.

The global warming potential of nitrous oxide is 300-fold greater than carbon dioxide; nitrous oxide accounts for some 6% of human-induced climate change, scientists estimate.
