General Motors and its joint ventures’ retail deliveries rose 15% year-on-year to a record 327,037 vehicles in China in October, with Buick posting its best-ever monthly sales. Buick sales gained 42% in October, with monthly sales exceeding 100,000 units for the first time. Chevrolet sales declined 8.4%

At a press event in Tokyo to lay out his future vision and direction for the company, Honda Motor President & CEO Takahiro Hachigo said that the company will strive to make two-thirds of its overall unit sales from plug-in hybrid/hybrid vehicles and zero-emissions vehicles such as fuel cell vehicles and battery EVs by around 2030.

The Driving America Forward Act raises the cap and allows purchasers of an additional 400,000 vehicles per manufacturer to be eligible for the tax credit. Sales of electric vehicles in the US increased by more than 80% in 2018 and two manufacturers have already hit the lifetime cap of 200,000 units (GM and Tesla).

The Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers (Auto Alliance) is strongly supporting the passage of Maryland’s SB 1234 , a bill that would require the State of Maryland to purchase zero emission vehicles (ZEVs) for state fleets. The bill would take effect 1 July 2018. Maryland is one of nine states that has adopted California’s ZEV Mandate.

General Motors and Pacific Century Motors (PCM), an entity formed by The Tempo Group and E-Town, an affiliate of the Beijing Municipal Government, have reached an agreement for GM to sell GM Global Steering Holdings, LLC, commonly known as Nexteer, to PCM. Terms of the sale were not disclosed.

General Motors inaugurated its new flexi-engine facility in Talegaon, GM’s first powertrain plant that enables gasoline and diesel engines to be manufactured simultaneously. The new engine plant will begin by producing engines for small passenger cars manufactured by GM in India.
