Funny that this article cites “a shortage of public charging stations&# as the sole reason for auto makers scrapping electric vehicles in the 1990s. Others include the Fisker Karma, the Aptera 2e, the Coda sedan, Chevy’s Volt and Tesla’s Model S. The Leaf has a range of 100 miles.

Andy Frank makes the observation that parallel hybrids (Toyota Prius) are cheaper than series hybrids (Chevy Volt). To date, the relatively high cost of batteries has kept electric and plug-in vehicles at the fringes of the auto industry. Many of the other executives have years of experience in the auto business.
