A global team of Rio Tinto experts have developed a small-scale test plant at Rio Tinto’s research center in Bundoora, Melbourne, Australia to test the new technology. This plant could potentially produce 10 tonnes per year of lithium-carbonate needed in rechargeable batteries for electric vehicles and consumer electronics.
