Audi opens power-to-gas facility in Werlte/Emsland; e-gas from water, green electricity and CO2

Audi’s e-gas plant. Audi has opened its e-gas plant in Werlte, making it the first automobile manufacturer to develop a chain of sustainable energy carriers. The Audi e-gas plant, which can convert 6MW of input power, utilizes renewable electricity for electrolysis to produce oxygen and hydrogen.

Audi in new e-fuels project: synthetic diesel from water, air-captured CO2 and green electricity; “Blue Crude”

Audi’s latest e-fuels project is participation in a a pilot plant project in Dresden that produces diesel fuel from water, CO 2 and green electricity. Audi expanding e-gas capacity through partnership with Viessmann; power-to-gas with biological methanation of CO2 and H2

Audi is expanding capacities for the production of sustainably produced e-gas. The Viessmann Group is Audi’s first partner company to produce additional quantities of the synthetic fuel using a new biological methanation process. Audi e-gas is currently produced using two process steps: electrolysis and methanation.

California, 6 automakers finalize bilateral Clean Car Framework agreements

While California is challenging the Federal government in court to overturn the revocation of California’s waiver enabling the state to issue greenhouse gas restrictions on light-duty vehicles, it has finalized with six participating automakers individual bilateral agreements based upon a Framework unveiled last year.
