Lucid Motors announced the Lucid Air will be the fastest charging electric vehicle yet offered with the capability to charge at rates of up to 20 miles per minute. For owners charging their Lucid Air in real-world conditions on the road, that can translate into 300 miles of range in just 20 minutes of charging.

Production of the Air has begun, according to the automaker, who is holding a Production Preview Event this week at its Casa Grande, Arizona, manufacturing facility. The first units of the Air Dream Edition sedan rolled off of the Lucid assembly lines earlier today , and Arizona Governor Doug Ducey was in attendance for the event.

While in EV Mode, the Prius Plug-in is rated by the EPA to drive up to 11 miles. During EV Mode driving, the Prius Plug-in is rated at 95 MPGe (miles per gallon equivalent). In hybrid mode, it has an EPA combined mileage rating of 50 mpg. It’s also capable of traveling up to 62 mph (100 km/h) using electric power alone.

The US Environmental Agency (EPA) has granted California’s waiver request enabling the state to enforce its greenhouse gas emissions standards (Pavley I) for new motor vehicles, beginning with the current model year. California requested from EPA the waiver required for implementation of the Pavley regulations in December 2005.
