Amidst the well-deserved hoopla about GM's plug-in serial hybrid Chevy Volt , Ford is touting its own equally ugly plug-in hybrid concept car. In place of a small gasoline generator, it relies on a hydrogen fuel cell to generate the electricity once the grid-charged Lithium batteries are depleted. Honda may yet stick a plug on its FCX.

In two packages of awards, the California Energy Commission approved more than $44 million to expand the hydrogen fueling infrastructure and increase the number of alter alternative fuel vehicles on the road in the state. Fueling infrastructure must be in place to support the successful introduction of these vehicles.

As the next batter up, Mr. He remained "fuel-neutral," supporting electrics as part of the solution, but his focus is elsewhere. Hydrogen booster Edwin Black reportedly walked out.

Other nice interior features are tilt steering wheel, multiple cup holders, carpeted floor mats, a center console with slide-adjustable arm rest, map lights and a 12-volt accessory outlet up front. The battery-electric 2013 Honda Fit EV ( earlier post ) will be available for lease beginning 20 July 2012, with a three-year lease price of $389 per month. kW charger allows the vehicle to be plugged into any household-type 120-volt or available 240-volt AC power supply. First Honda model to use new HondaLink EV telematics.
