The BMW Group continues to invest in e-component production at Plant Leipzig and in the future of the site. The new plot for use by BMW consists of 12 hectares in total, eight of which will be built on in the first stage of construction. These include the BMW iX1, the BMW i5 and the BMW iX.

At the BMW Group plant in Leipzig, the 200,000 th BMW i3 model rolled off the production line last week. The BMW i3s (combined power consumption: 14.6 – 14.0 kWh/100 km) with Fluid Black metallic paint finish and accents in BMW i Blue was produced for a customer from Saxony and will be delivered by the BMW branch in Leipzig.

The BMW Group is investing around €200 million in its Munich plant in preparation for series production of the BMW i4 electric vehicle, which will be manufactured at the company’s headquarters starting in 2021. The integration of the BMW i4 requires extensive measures, especially in body shop and vehicle assembly.
