New York City Taxi and Limo Commissions selects Nissan NV200 as Taxi of Tomorrow; fully-electric version possible starting in 2017

The New York City Taxi and Limousine Commission (TLC) has selected the Nissan NV200 as the exclusive taxi of New York City for a decade, beginning in late 2013. The City now will enter into final negotiations with Nissan to make the NV200 the first taxicab specially built for use in New York City.

Daimler begins deliveries of electric FUSO eCanter; UPS first commercial customer; NGO fleets

Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation (MFTBC), part of Daimler Trucks, celebrated the global launch of the FUSO eCanter ( earlier post ) in New York City. FUSO also announced the company’s first US commercial partner for the eCanter: UPS will place three of the new electric trucks into its fleet.

Toronto Transit Commission greenlights first battery-electric bus fleet; 10 Proterra E2s to start

The Toronto Transit Commission , the third largest transit agency in North America and the most heavily used system in all of Canada, purchased ten Proterra Catalyst E2 buses in support of the transit agency’s goal to convert its entire fleet of 1,926 buses to zero-emission buses by 2040.
