Suncor Energy has reached an agreement to sell the conventional portion of its natural gas business in Western Canada for $1 billion to a newly established partnership between Centrica plc and Qatar Petroleum International. Estimated production from this business in 2013 is approximately 42,000 boe/d (90% gas).

Qatalum, a joint venture by Qatar Petroleum and Hydro, achieved its full production capacity of 585,000 tonnes of primary aluminum on 21 September. There are already plans to boost the production to 609,000 tonnes annually from 2013.

Oman exports liquefied natural gas (LNG) but imports some volumes of natural gas by pipeline from Qatar via the UAE. The UAE is a net exporter of LNG but increasingly imports natural gas by pipeline from Qatar. Oman increased oil production by 18% to 943,000 b/d and natural gas production by 32% to 2.8 Bcf/d from 2005 to 2014.
