The BMW Group released the data from the MINI E field trial in the UK. In April, Axion Power International Inc received an order from Norfolk Southern Corp (NS) for PbC lead-carbon batteries for use in an all-battery-powered switcher locomotive. NS originally built NS-999 in early 2009 with lead–acid batteries; however, the lead–acid system consistently failed field testing.
