The company is currently focusing on plans to plug the gap between the current market and a future when electric cars hit the mainstream, by converting Lotus Elises and Volkswagen (VW) Golfs to electric power. Established in 2008, it has already converted eight Lotuses, and is working on five VW Golfs.

At least GM sent this nifty printed banner explaining all about the new J1772 industry standard recharging plug. They even had a real plug connected to their toy car on the exhibit hall. Luckily no one was really at Plug-In 2009 to hear the Three Car Stooges at this point, they don’t have any pleasant surprises in store for us.

The four-door sedan will deliver 40 miles on a charge; a small gasoline engine will recharge the battery as it approaches depletion, extending its range by as much as 200 miles. Considering how much GM plugs we do 80% of our driving in the city, those highway miles dont get much use. The car is expected to cost around $40,000.
