Government of Ontario, Canada Providing Rebates Up to C$8,500 for Plug-in Hybrid or Battery Electric Vehicles

Ontario, Canada individuals, businesses, and organizations that purchase or lease a new plug-in hybrid electric or battery electric vehicle after 1 July 2010 may be eligible for a rebate between C$5,000 and C$8,500 (US$4,900-8,300). California ARB: GHG emissions fell below 1990 levels for first time in 2016; down 13% from 2004 peak; transportation emissions up 2%

Under Assembly Bill 32 passed in 2006, California must reduce its emissions to 1990 levels (431 million metric tons) by 2020. The state’s latest Greenhouse Gas Emissions Inventory shows that California emitted 429 million metric tons of climate pollutants in 2016—a drop of 12 million metric tons, or three percent, from 2015.

California Adopts Low Carbon Fuel Standard, with Indirect Land Use Change Effects for Biofuels

At its meeting on Thursday, the California Air Resources Board adopted a regulation that will implement Governor Schwarzenegger’s Low Carbon Fuel Standard ( earlier post ) calling for at least a 10% reduction from 2006 levels in the carbon intensity (measured in gCO 2 e/MJ) of California’s transportation fuels by 2020.
