With the Volvo Concept Truck, Volvo Trucks has developed its first hybrid vehicle designed for long-haul applications. Volvo Trucks estimates that in long haul operation, the hybrid powertrain will allow the combustion engine to be shut off for up to 30% of the driving time. —Claes Nilsson, CEO at Volvo Trucks.

Volvo Car Group demonstrated its autonomous driving technology ( earlier post ) to media and decision makers in Beijing today; Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Löfven joined the event. Volvo Cars’ Drive Me project, which will feature 100 autonomous cars, will start rolling on selected roads around Gothenburg by 2017.
