According to provisional data published by the European Environment Agency (EEA), the average CO 2 emissions from new passenger cars registered in the European Union (EU) in 2018 increased for the second consecutive year, reaching 120.4 grams of CO 2 per kilometer. For the first time, the average CO 2 emissions from new vans also increased.

The global EV Charger (EVC) market is forecast to grow from more than 1 million units in 2014 to more than 12.7 million units in 2020, according to a new EV Charging Infrastructure report by IHS Inc. Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) will begin leasing approximately 200 plug-in versions of its third-generation Prius ( earlier post ) equipped with lithium-ion battery packs in Japan starting at the end of this year. This brings the initial planned global deployment of early plug-ins—primarily to fleet customers—to approximately 500 units.
