According to a report in Best Car magazine out of Japan, the next generation Nissan GT-R will come with a hybrid powertrain. A 160 hp electric motor and a 440 hp gas engine will team up for a combined 600 hp. That's a number truly deserving of the car's nickname: Godzilla. That 485 hp.

Though Toyota has not confirmed anything officially, Japan's Best Car magazine is reporting that the company plans to reintroduce the Toyota MR2 as a hybrid model called the MR-S to compete with Honda's upcoming CR-Z hybrid. As Best Car reports, the vehicle will go on sale sometime after the CR-Z is released in 2010.

Place this one firmly in the ‘rumour mill’ for now, but reports are suggesting that Honda may soon add two hybrid sports cars to its fleet. After the introduction of the second generation Insight, the Japanese car manufacturer has committed itself to the further development of hybrid drive vehicles.
