The Chevrolet Volt and Nissan Leaf earned the highest safety ratings from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety in the first US crash test evaluations of plug-in electric cars. The Volt and Leaf earn the top rating of good for front, side, rear, and rollover crash protection.

New York City is adding 70 electric vehicles to its fleet: 50 new Chevrolet Volts, 10 fully electric Ford Transit Connect cargo vans, and 10 new fully electric Navistar E-star utility trucks. The Chevrolet Volt is the first electric car being used by the NYPD.

It's a pity that we have to remove this, but the size of the golf-cart batteries clearly interfere with the latch. Home Depot sells 2-inch caps that should plug the previous hole nicely. It turns out that the positive wire to the horn is also tied directly to the positive terminal of the 12-volt system.

The 8-volt golf cart batteries arrived over 24 days ago and have just been sitting on the garage floor, discharging. The lower charge rate can be plugged into a 15-amp outlet that has a few other light loads attached. Here is the starter block-off plate to cover the hole left from the removed starter motor.
