The loan will support the Karma, a full-size, four-door sports sedan, and a line of family oriented models being developed under the company’s Project NINA program. Fisker, a startup based in southern California, expects to manufacture the Karma and Project NINA lines at a recently shuttered General Motors factory in Wilmington, Delaware.

While all 2012 Fisker Karma extended-range electric luxury sedans were built in Finland, the company always intended to assemble cars in the U.S. Before its collapse and bankruptcy, Fisker had bought a former General Motors plant in Delaware.

Taylor had a long career with General Motors, including a stint as CEO of the Hummer brand. In April of 2018, it established a second Silicon Valley R & D center.

Waters worked on the battery for the General Motors EV1 and also worked at Ener1, which makes lithium-ion batteries. The Chevy Volt is based around a series hybrid design and so is the Karma coming later this year from Fisker Automotive. But it does have experience on its side.
