For its part General Motors—the power behind Chevrolet and GMC—is now set to work with San Francisco-based Pacific Gas & Electric to test forthcoming GM electric vehicles as on-demand power sources for homes.

The stator comprises a steel core that supports the motor winding, while intensifying and directing the magnetic fields between winding and rotor; GM uses bar wound configurations in its permanent magnet motors. It will be the first vehicle on the market to use the recently approved SAE combo charger for DC Fast Charging (J1772).
