Though Shashank has been waiting for a Tesla for long, he realised that Elon bhai is too busy tweeting around to get the cars into India. The car is definitely in the Tesla league. It has an interesting gizmo where the 800 V DC gets converted to 230 V AC – and can be accessed via a normal 15 A plug. kWh of juice.

I duly plugged it into an exterior household outlet. Since it was not a Level 2 charger, I knew it would not gain much juice overnight. That meant looking for a decent public DC charging station in a nearby town. I was right, it only boosted the battery level from 31% to 51%. Lessons Learned I then learnt a new lesson.

A side benefit could be plugging in appliances to the car while camping rough. And plenty of technology remains left to be worked out: including the complex supporting infrastructure, business models, and various forms of electric plugs and chargers, alongside their sometimes confounding range of pin configurations.
