car2go North America, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Daimler North America Corporation, will add 30 smart fortwo electric drive vehicles (EV) to the car2go Portland, Oregon carsharing network. The EVs will join the 250 smart fortwo cars that were introduced when car2go launched in Portland on 31 March 2012.

Kurihara also announced that the State of Oregon and Portland General Electric (PGE) are joining Mitsubishi in the i MiEV partnership program. PGE is rolling out a network of charging stations across its service territory in Oregon and the addition of i MiEVs further facilitates its support of next-generation electric vehicles.

For the last two years, Chevrolet has been the largest US corporate buyer of voluntary carbon credits by volume, according to nonprofit Forest Trends Ecosystem Marketplace. This helps ensure campuses can continue to receive funding from companies’ carbon purchases long after Chevrolet completes its carbon-reduction initiative next year.

The Hertz Corporation, which includes the Hertz, Dollar and Thrifty brands, has expanded of its Green Traveler Collection car rental fleet to include the 2016 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid ( earlier post ) in select cities across the US. All of the Green Traveler cars have fuel efficiency ratings starting at 33+ highway mpg.

Beginning 24 March, car2go will begin to deploy 200 smart fortwo cars in Washington DC, distributing them throughout the entire District.
