Q: Currently only London can claim to have, in anyway, a widespread distribution of recharging points for electric vehicles – how do you envisage this problem to be solved? Do you agree with Volvo that Boris Johnson should look to peg congestion charging with vehicle CO2 emissions, in much the same way as Vehicle Excise Duty?

Nevertheless, most of the green car initiatives in the UK seem to revolve around electric cars with the Government launching its £25million Ultra Low Carbon Vehicle Demonstrator scheme which aims to accelerate a shift towards low emission motoring by creating the world’s largest network of electric vehicle recharging stations.

Peripheral circumstances are different everywhere, says TNT CO2 manager Mr Bjorn Sawilla. In London we have congestion charge, plus a customer dense network. National pilots Using CNG, like TNT Germany, has many benefits on local air quality but is only a temporary solution, because it doesnt solve the problem of CO2 emissions.
