That said, if that’s your typical daily commute, it’s easy to see how plugging in overnight would give you all the juice you need. One chap in a Chrysler 300C V8 refuses to believe it’s electric until I show him how there’s no combustion offering under the sleek bonnet. More good news today.

It appears that few people, especially those in the mainstream media, understand the basic physics underlying fast charging, so I though it would be a good idea to review this and its implications for electric vehicle infrastructure. Chrysler used this for their EPIC Minivan and could charge at a rate of about one mile per minute.

Chrysler alone, for instance, may have 3 different battery pack shapes in its upcoming models. Therefore, until we get quick-charge batteries -- based on new breakthroughs, Ill take a WAG and estimate that we will have real 5-minute quick-charge batteries in perhaps 10 years -- we are likely to get our juice mostly from our home chargers.
