That event was meant to show that the new company, a combination of the old Fiat Chrysler Automobiles with Europe’s Peugeot Citroën, had the plans to electrify its model line that FCA conspicuously lacked. The two couldn’t be more different. One’s the best of the dwindling segment of 7- and 8-seat vehicles that aren’t hulking SUVs.

It appears that few people, especially those in the mainstream media, understand the basic physics underlying fast charging, so I though it would be a good idea to review this and its implications for electric vehicle infrastructure. Chrysler used this for their EPIC Minivan and could charge at a rate of about one mile per minute.

Chrysler alone, for instance, may have 3 different battery pack shapes in its upcoming models. Therefore, until we get quick-charge batteries -- based on new breakthroughs, Ill take a WAG and estimate that we will have real 5-minute quick-charge batteries in perhaps 10 years -- we are likely to get our juice mostly from our home chargers.
