The first phase would involve installing 27 charging sites along I-5 at 50-mile intervals for medium-duty electric vehicles, such as delivery vans, by 2025. Of the 27 proposed sites, 16 are in California, five are in Oregon and six are in Washington. HDR completed the study. Proposed charging site locations.

Shades of red indicate that less than 50% of the needed charging has been installed through the end of 2017, while blues indicate that more than 50% of charging needed in 2025 was in place by 2017. Charging infrastructure deployment will have to grow at about 20% per year to meet the 2025 targets identified in this report.

Fleets don’t want to go electric at scale until they’ve done years-long pilots, but the Advanced Clean Trucks regulation will artificially constrict that timeframe. He later served as Transportation Electrification Manager at Portland General Electric, so he’s worked both sides of the electric fence. Soon they won’t have a choice.

Hyundai Heavy Industries in Korea will receive Li-ion battery packs for electric buses; the packs are similar configurations as packs currently in operation in California with AC Transit. Ener1 is currently installing capacity supply up to 11,000 EV pack equivalents or 260 MWh of lithium-ion battery pack systems.
