The Volvo Cars manufacturing plant in Chengdu, the company’s largest in China, is now powered by 100% renewable electricity, taking the company’s global renewable electricity mix in its manufacturing network to 80%. Until recently, the Chengdu plant already sourced 70% of its electricity from renewable sources.

UK-based Connected Energy and Groupe Renault have installed two quick-charge stations based on Connected Energy’s E-STOR energy storage technology on highways in Belgium and Germany. With the E-STOR system, the batteries are recharged at low power, and the stored energy is then released at high power.

Battery modules and cells needed in Belgium for the Audi e-tron and Audi e-tron Sportback were up to now transported by truck over the approximately 1,300-kilometer-long route from the supplier in Hungary. In Hungary and Belgium, Audi uses DBeco neutral. New equipment and processes have been installed specifically for this purpose.

Ford of Europe has put two giant wind turbines, each with a height of 150 meters, into service at the Ford Genk plant in Belgium. Installed by local energy company, Electrabel, each unit has an output of 2MW of power. Genk is not the only Ford of Europe plant to use electricity generated by wind turbines.
