In a pilot electric trucking project, sennder transported 17+ tonnes of product for Cabot from the port of Rotterdam to Antwerp, Belgium and then returned to base—a round trip covering a distance of more than 300 km (186 miles). The pilot project was conducted to test the long-term capabilities of 40+ tonne electric trucks.

Before the demo vehicle—a DAF CF 340 front loader with a Millennium XXL 40 body from Terberg HS—could be used to collect commercial waste, a conversion from standard diesel propulsion to hydrogen was required. Refueling at 350 bar takes just under 15 minutes.

After an intense period of development and testing, the CX45E is now being commercially launched by Van Hool’s North American exclusive distributor ABC Bus Companies Inc. The 100% electrically driven vehicle has a range of up to 500 km (310 miles), depending on the climate conditions and the route’s topography.

As per the EV maker, the vehicle comes with a WLTP range of 600 km (372 miles). The Model 3 Long Range RWD was launched in the UK in April 2023 , but the all-electric sedan was only sold as a fleet vehicle for commercial customers. The vehicle is not offered in countries like the UK and the Netherlands as of writing.

Ballard Power Systems announced a purchase order from Van Hool, a leading bus OEM and Ballard partner headquartered in Belgium, for 10 fuel cell modules to power Van Hool A330 buses to be deployed in Emmen, the Netherlands, under the JIVE2 funding program. Van Hool A330 Fuel Cell Buses powered by Ballard.

Ballard Power Systems announced a purchase order from Van Hool, a leading bus OEM and Ballard partner headquartered in Belgium, for 20 FCveloCity-HD 85kW fuel cell modules to power buses in Groningen, the Netherlands, under the JIVE2 funding program. Ballard plans to deliver the 20 FCveloCity-HD 85kW modules in 2020.
